A performing group comprising dance students and professional dancers will be presenting excerpts from “Hystera”, an original work commissioned by Diagonal dance school for this year’s annual show (Royal Theatre, 19 May 2022). Choreographed and directed by Nadia Koutziampasi, this dance piece is a vivid dialogue between the concept of tradition and contemporary artistic creation, experimenting with two well established and seemingly incongruous traditions; classical
dance (ballet) and Greek traditional music.
Nadia Koutziampasi has been an active member of the dance community — as a mover, maker, and educator — for more than a couple of decades now. She has been the artistic and general director of Diagonal dance school since its inception in 2003, leading a wide range of educational and creative programmes for dance students and dancers of all age groups; children, adolescents, and adults. In addition, she provides tutoring and professional development services to vocational dance students and professional dancers, while also being the founder and director of nth dance company, as well as the leader of Yù Yī (a contemporary dance project for women over 65).
